This term we have been looking at the 'School Kit Tuia 250' inquiry. It tells the story of the first meeting between Māori and Pakeha when Captain Cook and his crew arrived on the Endeavor. We often hear the story about Captain Cook but not so often from any other perspective.
We started out by thinking about what 'perspective' means and how every person has their own perspective on a story.
Whaea Kat and Edie pretended that Whaea Kat had stolen food from Edie's lunch box and then asked us all to tell what we had seen, we realised that we all had different perspectives, some of us saw Whaea Kat go into Edie's room and come back with food, some of us saw Whaea Kat come into Room 9 and take some food, some of us just heard about it from other people, and others had no idea anything had happened.
We created Google drawings to show what happened from our own perspectives.
